Sioux Lookout is located in Northwestern Ontario halfway between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, 40 minutes north of the Trans-Canada Highway and a 45 minute flight from Thunder Bay. Sioux Lookout is known as the “Hub of the North”, and has a population of 5500 people with a catchment area of approximately 32,000.
At the Hugh Allen Clinic we are responsible for shared staffing at the hospital including the Emergency Room, Hospitalist, Fracture Clinic, monthly community visits to New Saugeen and managing the Hugh Allen Clinic which primarily services the Town of Sioux Lookout, Hudson, Pickle Lake, Ignace, Dinorwic and Wabigoon.
The local Sioux Lookout Meno-Ya-Win (SLMHC) Health Centre opened in 2011 and services the entire region of over 32,000 patients. MenoYaWin, in the Anishinaabe language means health, wellness, well-being. It refers to holistic healing and wellness, the whole self being in a state of complete wellness.
